"What can Oracle learn from social networks to enhance team spirit and communication?"

A group of young people were put through Oracles leadership development programme for the first time ever. Here they were introduced to management theories across an intensive weekend introduction. Ongoing work saw the team designing and using social networks to work with, question and conduct research amongst Oracle Scotland staff.

UK and European directors at Oracle were ‘wowed’ by the standard of the presentation.

“The young people have showed us how social networking tools could cut down on excess communication that happens within the organisation.”

“Young people with social networking skills are now joining Oracle and its partners and expecting to use tools like these to communicate and work.”

“By being given access to management theory at the age of 15 and 16 these young people demonstrated a grasp of the leadership skills that we often don’t see in employees until they’ve been with us for years.”

“It has made us think about how we need to continue to develop products and services based around social networking.”

“It has made us realise that UK industry needs to give young people more ‘real’ opportunities such as this.”
